Middle East Peace Pole Plan"May peace prevail on Earth"
What is a "peace pole"?Many global citizens are saddened by the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which seems to resist all efforts toward a peaceful solution. The universal yearning for peace has not found a strong voice in this area of the world.Peace Poles can give voice to that yearning in a quiet yet powerful way. A Peace Pole is politically neutral. It expresses a desire for peace – no more and no less. We believe that the energy of the word peace with the intention of creating peace is broadcast through a pole's very presence in an area of conflict. Peace Pole Placers is a group of individuals who believe that peace poles inspire all of us toward peace in our hearts and through the intention of creating peace influence the area in which they are placed. Our organization is part of a worldwide effort to bring peace to global conflict through positive intervention. A Peace Pole is a six foot tall cedar post that carries the message "may peace prevail on earth" on each of its four sides, in languages appropriate to the country it is located in. Each pole has been dedicated with wishes and prayers for non-violent solutions to problems in the world. These poles are a tangible sign of hope that these prayers will be granted. There are already some 300,000 Peace Poles silently working for peace around the world.
Many host sites place their peace pole in a prominent location, often surrounded by inspirational landscaping such as stone work, green plants or flowers. It is also customary to hold a dedication ceremony, in order to infuse the pole with an intention toward peace. The positive energy created by this ceremony will itself be a powerful force toward harmony. There is no prescribed format for the dedication. It may include statements of intention, poetry, singing, or dancing. Many groups re-dedicate their pole at one-year intervals with a ceremony of this kind.
Our intent has been to place seven new peace poles in six Middle East regions that are directly affected by the
Israeli-Palestinian situation. These areas are Palestine, Israel,
Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Syria. In 2007 we placed seven or more poles in three of these areas except Israel, at no cost
to the host sites.
Organizations in these countries may still request a Peace Pole by contacting us through one of the ways below. We especially wish to send new poles to Israel.
